Worship Ministries
We gather together every Sunday morning at 10:30 to bring praise and worship to God, to share in the fellowship of believers, and to hear and respond to the word of the Lord. Our time spent in worship is what shapes us as a community.
This past year, we have been so thrilled by the coming of our new pastor, Rev. Seth Svaty, and especially with his leadership in worship. He has been preaching from the Revised Common Lectionary and has repeatedly challenged us with the words given him by God.
Our Chancel Choir and instrumentalists assist in leading the service music. God has truly blessed us with talented and experienced musicians.
Chancel Choir Our chancel choir is made up of singers of all ages and all abilities and when we all work together, we make music to glorifies God. Larry Brownlee is the director and Kevin Smith is the accompanist. There is always room for more singers, so come and join us!! We rehearse on Wednesday nights at 7:00 in the sanctuary throughout the school year. Child care is provided in the nursery.

Instruments Our songs of praise are enhanced by the melodious sounds of our 3-manual Rodgers organ, played by Margaret Calderwood, and our Young Chang piano, played by Kevin Smith. From time to time, others in the congregation share their talents on the guitar, trumpet, trombone, and other instruments. To emphasize that worship is done by the body of Christ, not for the body of Christ, various laity read the liturgy and Scripture passages each week. To ensure that our liturgy does not become dull or routine, liturgists are encouraged to prayerfully select the prayers to be read. Several of our liturgists even write their own.
We enjoy being led in worship by people of all walks of life. If you would like to become a liturgist or would just like additional information, please contact one of the members of the Worship Committee.

We have special worship services for Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve. We also join with other churches in Sterling for ecumenical services celebrating Good Friday, Thanksgiving, and Epiphany (?). We will list these services on our Upcoming Events page as they draw nearer to time.
